Aegan Music Review
Following the successful superstar remake Billa, Aegan is the next from ‘Ultimate Star’ Ajith. Obviously, the film is loaded with star and fan expectations and hopes. To offer a veritable treat to his ardent fans, Ajith has worked hard on this action extravaganza for almost a year now. Aegan has many attractive features; its fascinating heroine Nayantara is one among them. Choreographer Raju Sundaram is the debut director of Aegan. Yuvanshankar Raja, the music director, has indeed done a commendable job. While creating the compositions, it is clear that he has kept in mind the reach and impact the songs would make on Thala fans as well as others. All the five songs are categorically modern; yet in each and every song there is a Yuvan element that stands out and pulls the listener closer. Moreover, Yuvan has put even experienced singers like Shankar Mahadevan on a different pedestal, showcasing their extra abilities.
Ayngaran International, a well-known name that kickstarted its production operations through Billa in 2006, is producing Aegan too. Ayngaran Music, the audio wing of the same enterprise, has released the film’s audio album. The digital music rights of Aegan are with Think music.
‘Hey Baby’ is a hip hop in Shankar Mahadevan’s voice. The subtle instrumental riffs are ably matched by Shankar Mahadevan’s modulations; his vocal dynamics on the low-scale notes are presented effectively. A typical ballroom number, the song also has an oldies’ touch and feel.
‘Hey Salaa’ is a peppy chorus by BlaaZe, Mohammed Aslam and Naresh Iyer. The singers’ stylish rendering, their heavily-accented intonations and the intense orchestration creates an exotic impression.
Vasundra Das’ rich resonant voice rings in the solo ‘Kicchu Kicchu’. Western genre has always been Vasundhra’s strength. Yet, thespecial effects demonstrated in this particular song makes it appear like a fresh attempt; Vasundhra’s enthusiasm has definitely made the song pleasing to hear.
‘Odum Varayil’ is a well-knit composition rendered by the K.K. and Bhela Shende combo. Each segment of the song progresses on a determined and clear string of notes. Bhela Shende’s slender twists and embellishments add an aesthetic charm.
‘Yahoo’, like its catchword title, is a promising number full of lively energy. If you don’t expect anything radically different in this number and are thoroughly prepared for the fun, then you will have loads of it in the song. NewGen singers Naveen, Ranjith and Sathyan rock and roll and pull every listener into the musical revelry.
The striking and powerful facets in Yuvan’s music communicate Aegan’s distinction in a unique way.
