Prakashraj on Kanchivaram
Actor Prakashraj expressed his happiness about Kanchivaram being selected for competition section of IFFI. The actor said that this is a very big achievement for a Tamil film and he is proud to be a part of it. He thanked Priyadarshan profusely for offering him an opportunity to work in Kanchivaram.
Prakashraj also said that he is looking forward to more opportunities to work with Priyadarshan. He added that his role in Kanchivaram is the best in his film career so far and he is looking forward to do more such roles.
Kanchivaram stars Prakashraj and Shreya Reddy in the lead. It is said that this film will be released in India in December.
Kanchivaram is the brainchild of Priyadarshan. This film, which talks about the travails of silk weavers of Kanchivaram 80 years ago, has been screened at several international film festivals including Toronto, and came close to winning an award there. Kanchivaram has to be Priyadarshan’s best film till date.
It has the same appeal that an Anton Chekhov or O. Henry classic would have. It is no surprise it was unanimously selected by the 7-member jury for the competitive section of IFFI.
