Kamal Haasan’s 50th year in Indian cinema

Ulaganayagan, as he is affectionately called made his debut with his first film as a child artiste in Kalathoor Kannamma which was released on August 12th, 1959.

Now, after several years and after an untiring voyage, Kamal Haasan is still raring to go and full of ideas. His contribution to Indian cinema is immense and he truly deserves a standing ovation for all his hard work.

He stands unparalleled in terms of achievements and it would probably take many more years for Indian cinema to witness another great ‘kamaal’ personality like Kamal.

He is currently working on Unnai Pol Oruvan, directed by Chakri Toleti; the film is said to be almost complete. According to industry sources, the film may be released on August 12th to celebrate Kamal’s 50th year in cinema. Unnai Pol Oruvan also stars Mohanlal, who is Malayalam cinema’s most successful actor.
