Perarasu and his punchlines
What is new about director Perarasu? We know that he is fond of naming his movies after cities and towns. But not many know that for his latest venture Tiruttani with Bharath in the lead role, Perarasu himself is composing the music.
Is he treading the line of `Ashtavatharam’ T. Rajendher, who has never gone for an outside name as music composer in movies under his home banner? Not inclined to compare, Perarasu said he saw the opportunity even when he had the script ready. “The storyline needed a heavy beat and that was the driving force to pitch my entry in an untried area. It is an added responsibility I have willingly shouldered,” says this director known for his characteristic punch lines.
Perarasu justifies his mandatory presence in a cameo, much like Alfred Hitchcock, the kingpin of suspense thrillers. “You connect with the audience, however brief the role may be. Yes, there will be my trademark one-liners,” says Perarasu, half expecting the question.
Bharath is teaming up with Perarasu after Pazhani. Fittingly, Tiruttani was launched at a Murugan temple in the hub of Chennai on Wednesday morning.
