More trouble for Sun TV

July 8th, 2011 | Tamil Cinema News

A few days ago, Sun Pictures’ Chief Operating Officer (COO) was arrested on charges of cheating and intimidation. The arrest was based on a complaint filed by Salem-based distributor T.S. Selvaraj.

According to the complaint, Selvaraj brought the Salem distribution rights of Theerada Vilayattu Pillai for a sum of Rs. 1.25 crores but Sun Pictures later released the film directly with the help of local theatres. When Selvaraj demanded a refund of Rs. 82.53 lakhs, Saxena allegedly delayed repaying the sum and also threatened him.

It looks like Sun TV has to face more trouble. Now six theatre owners have filed a complaint against Sun Pictures, alleging that the deposit amount for Enthiran was not returned. According to sources, theatre owners have demanded a refund of the deposit amount of Rs. 1.5 crore.

Following their complaint, the police has now summoned Sun Pictures’ CFO Mr Unnikrishnan for investigation. The police is likely file multiple cases against the media giants.
