Theater Owners Plead Government for Special Shows

October 24th, 2011 | Tamil Cinema News

The theater owners have once again requested the government to extend the number of shows to five from the usual four at least for the seven days from Diwali owing to the burgeoning demand for advance booking for the Diwali releases. Three films are releasing this Diwali – Suriya’s 7aum Arivu, Vijay’s Velayutham and Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra. One. All these three films have generated huge buzz.

The advance bookings are like never before with three top heroes’s films releasing and so the theater owners have sought permission to show special shows for the first seven days. The government has also granted special shows to help theater owners tap the demand. When theater owners, distributors and producers aim at taking collections within a week, this will surely help them to some extent to get back their investment.

The State government has allowed theater owners to screen one extra show for 7 days from Diwali. October 26 to November 1, 2011, five shows will be screened in all the theaters. The Tamil Nadu theater owners’ association chairman Abirami Ramanathan expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for allowing theater owners to screen five shows during festivals.
