Asin: Not likely to do Tamil films in the near future
Bollywood-bound Asin has made it clear that she has no ‘immediate’ plans of starring in any Tamil film. Asin, who shot to fame with films like Ullam Ketkumae, M Kumaran S/o Mahalaxmi and Ghajini, shot to national fame when A.R. Murugadoss remade his Tamil super-duper hit Ghajini in Hindi with the same title casting Asin opposite the ever-dependable Aamir khan.
It’s been a mixed bag for Asin with one hit and one miss alternatively dotting her career in Bollywood. She is said to be having as many as five films in various stages of production in Bollywood and these assignments are likely to keep her stay put in Mumbai at least for the next couple of years.
She made a brief ‘comeback’ in Tamil through the Vijay-starrer Kaavalan last year but she doesn’t have any plans to attempt another Tamil film for the time being. Talking about her future plans, Asin says “I felt as an ‘outsider’ in Bollywood some time back and this probably didn’t get me the desired name, fame and status as a frontline actress.
“Now I feel that I have become an integral and inseparable part of Bollywood. I love the language, the costumes, the lifestyle and the culture followed in Hindi films and in Mumbai. I’d be dubbing in my own voice in all my films and have some big projects under way. I don’t want to shun Tamil altogether but would consider only if the project is too tempting,” concludes Asin.
