AR Rahman felt nostalgic
The 3rd Global Indian Music Awards(GIMA) was held in a gala manner. Celebs and the musical fraternity came under one roof at Yash Raj Studios, Mumbai with the event being hosted by Saif Ali Khan and Parineeti Chopra. It was a special night for composer AR Rahman.
Completing 20 years as composer, there was an exclusive AR Rahman segment this time at the GIMA. His big Bollywood hits, “Dil Hai Chota Sa”, “Mehndi Hai Rachne Wali”, “Ru Ba Ru”,”Tu Hi Re”, “Chanda Re Chande Re”, ”Saathiya”, “Sadda Haq” and “Jai Ho” were performed at the event before being felicitated by Yash Chopra himself. Receiving the award Rahman expressed, “I had a hint about the tribute but I did not realize that it will create such huge nostalgia. I am truly touched.”Present at the award function were prominent singers Hariharan, Chitra, Udit Narayan, Naresh Iyer, Alka Yagnik, Mohit Chauhan and Sonu Niigam.Most of them have worked with the Oscar winning composer once in their career and they were happy to see Rahman receive the honors. Rahman’s ‘Rockstar’ walked away with 6 GIMA Awards and Rockstar heroine Nargis Fakhri too made a glittery appearance alongside other Bollywood celebs including Vidya Balan and Sonakshi Sinha. A glad moment for Rahmaniacs!
