New experiments of Kollywood’s young filmmakers
While Tamil film industry was travelling through the same route, few youngsters came in taking new paths.
It all started with ‘Aaranya Kaandam’ that boasted of a fabulous script, gripping screenplay and powerful characters, which was something new to Kollywood.
In spite of not having any big star-casts, the film swept us all off our feet winning rave reviews and incredible laurels.
Then it was Balaji Mohan’s ‘Kadhalil Sodhapuvadhu Yeppadi’ that was loosely based on his short film with the same title. Starring Siddarth and Amala Paul in lead roles, the romantic entertainer had a warm welcome of red carpets spread out for its new-fangled narration.
Yesterday’s release ‘Pizza’ is the latest one to join the bandwagon. Produced by C.V. Kumar, the film has Thenmerku Paruvakaatru fame Vijay Sethupathy and Remya Nambeesan in lead roles. Directed by Karthik Subburaj, the film is a suspense-thriller that keeps the audiences hooked onto the screens from beginning till end.
The other film is ‘Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom’ starring the same actor Vijay Sethupathi and Gayathri in lead characters. The film is based on a real life incident, where a person suddenly forgets the incidents of his life.
With the young filmmakers striving to make a difference, it’s obvious that Tamil film industry is going through a new phase.
