Wanted to quit films after Mounam Pesiyadhe, reveals Trisha
Trisha has revealed that she was about to quit films during the early part of last decade but fate willed otherwise forcing her to change her decision which has kept her going as a heroine for 11 long years. The former ‘Miss Chennai’ was a popular model before she took the plunge into films to fulfill her desire of becoming an actress but the start of her career didn’t exactly go the way she had planned it out to be.
Uma Krishnan, Trisha’s mother, apparently didn’t approve her daughter’s idea of entering celluloid, coming from non- filmy backdrop. Trisha is said to have struck a deal with her mother that she would try out her luck in 2-3 films and if none of them made any waves, she would bid ‘good-bye’ to films and would never talk about it in future.
She debuted as heroine in the Madhavan-Shaam starrer Lesa Lesa (though its release was delayed) which was directed by Priyadarshan. The film wasn’t a huge hit and Trisha then had Mounam Pesiyadhe opposite Suriya. The Ameer-directed film was appreciated by critics but didn’t enjoy a great run at the box-office. As Trisha started losing confidence in her and thought she might have to return back do modeling, she got the offer to star in Vikram’s Saamy.
Saamy turned out to be a colossal hit and the rest, as they say, is history. Trisha went on to pair up opposite all the leading stars from Ajith and Vijay to Simbu and ‘Jayam’ Ravi. She also starred in many Telugu films as heroine opposite senior heroes as well as youngsters and at times opposite heroes who were much younger in age as compared to her (didn’t we hear Simbu’s name somewhere down the line?).
After Saamy, Trisha didn’t look back twice but recalls that she couldn’t have become a big star had Saamy not become a huge hit!
